There’s a very exciting Royal British Legion Charity Gala Concert being planned for West Wales in October.
The headline acts are the famous Thee Three Welsh Tenors – Rhys Meirion, Aled Hall and Aled Wyn Davies - and soprano Gwawr Edwards.
Rarely do the Three Welsh Tenors get the opportunity to perform together as each is a professional tenor with a demanding solo career in his own right.
Also appearing will be one of Wales’s famous male voice choirs, the mighty Morriston RFC Male Voice Choir, the bagpipes of the City and County of Swansea Pipe Band and the Corps of Drums of the 215 RAF Squadron.
The fundraising concert is at The Lyric Theatre in Carmarthen on Saturday, October 21.
Soloist Gwawr Edwards has a new recording out - 'Blue Jay and Red Cardinal' written by Marta Bellido and Mosi Dorbayani.
Gwawr is widely regarded as one of the most talented soprano soloists inWales.
She was born into a farming family in Ceredigion and was nurtured in the rich Eisteddfod tradition.
Music is truly in the Edwards family blood, as well as being a dedicated farmer, her father was also a busy and popular concert tenor, and her sister is an accomplished accompanist.
From a very young age, Gwawr was thrown into the performing world, accompanying them in concerts on regular occasions.
At the age of 11, Gwawr took part in her first concert tour of America, along with her father and sister, singing, playing the harp, and piano. She has since returned on numerous other occasions touring the States, as well as travelled to Asia, Europe and South America.
Gwawr studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff where she gained an entrance scholarship. She also studied at The Conservatorio Statale di Musica ‘Giuseppe Verdi’ in Turin, on an Erasmus Exchange, and subsequently at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where she gained a first class Masters degree, under the tuition of Yvonne Kenny.
Gwawr’s second album, 'Alleluia', featured Only Men Aloud, Rhys Taylor's dixieland jazz band, mezzo-soprano Caryl Hughes, and Cor Ieienctyd Mon.
Her first album, released in 2010 featured the bass-barritone Bryn Terfel and harpist Catrin Finch. She also sang a duet with Bryn Terfel on his Christmas album on the Deutsche Grammophon label. Both her solo albums were released on the record label SAIN.
Gwawr makes frequent apearances on the Welch fourth channel, S4C, and has toured the UK with Bryn Terfel, performing at Birmingham Symphony hall, London Festival Hall, Manchester Bridgewater Hall and Cardiff St David's Hall, accompanied by the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Gwawr was a finalist for the BBC Radio 2’s Dame Kiri Te Kanawa Prize – a search for an ‘opera star of the future.’
She has won all the major awards and competitions in Wales including the prestigious Towyn Roberts Scholarship, the Osborne Roberts Scholarship, Llangollen International Eisteddfod, Lampeter Eisteddfod Blue Riband and the Violet Mary Davies award for most promising soprano at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. She is also a recipient of the Elizabeth Evans Trust, a Samling Artist and a patron of Age Cymru.
The Royal British Legion concert is being organised by Llanelli-based concert promoter Cerith Owens.

In other news, Burry Port’s most famous son, John Owen Jones, will perform in concert in North America in September.
He will appear at the North American Festival of Wales in Rochester, New York, on September 2 and make his New York cabaret debut at legendary venue Feinstein’s 54 Below on September 6.
In October, John will appear as Emile de Becque in a concert version of the classic musical South Pacific.
The one night only concert will be at London’s Cadogan Hall on October 15 and will feature a cast of West End stars and a full orchestra.
In November, John will appear in the brand new musical Tiger Bay at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.
In December, John has two concerts in Wales – December 7 at Ffwrnes and December 14 at St David’s Hall, Cardiff. His special guest star will be Beau Dermott, The £1m Voice and the star of Britain’s Got Talent 2016
The Lyric in October will feature baritone Rhydian Roberts in concert.
The concert, on October 5, is being billed as ‘Rhydian, Richard & Adam’, a magical evening of classical arias and contemporary songs.
Rhydian has carved out a successful career as a recording artist and in musical theatre. Richard and Adam are one of the most successful acts to emerge from Britain’s Got Talent.
Finally, Saturday, October 21, sees big concert at Ysgol Bro Dinefwr in Llandeilo, featuring Carmarthen-born tenor Wynne Evans.
It’s all in aid of Ty Cymorth, the Carmarthen-based hospice.
Wynne Evans is a patron of the Ty Cymorth hospice.
The concert is being billed as 'Voices for Hospices' and will also celebrate the Rotary International Foundation centenary and 100 years of Rotary International in Wales.
Rotary clubs and associated male voice choirs invited to be involved include Carmarthen, Carmarthen Tywi, Llandeilo, Llandovery, Lampeter, Aberwstwyth and Aberaeron.
The President for the event will be West Wales businessman Brian Jones, of Castell Howell Foods, who is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and trustee of Ty Cymorth.
Tickets, priced at £10, will be available shortly.
